The Science Behind our OxyFlow Breathing Trainer, Airflow Resistance, and Resipiratory Muscle Training (RMT)

1.https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/physiology/articles/10.3389/fphys.2022.813243/full If you are a runner experiencing shortness of breathe then your breathing might be the problem. According to this research, breathing better while running could improve performance by 1% to 5% over time. That means by using OxyFlow Breathing Trainer, you can improve your ability to breath, hence OxyFlow Breathing Trainer can potentially help you run better as well.

1. https://breathe.ersjournals.com/content/13/4/298? etoc=&utm_source=TrendMD&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=_Breathe_TrendMD_0 By practicing controlled and slow breathing, you can help maximize Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and maintain autonomic function. These are linked to lower mortality rates in certain health conditions and longer lifespans in general. So, by utilizing the resistive training of OxyFlow Breathing Trainer, you can intentionally slow down breathing to reap these benefits.

1. https://rc.rcjournal.com/content/65/3/377.short Research shows that doing breathing exercises at home can really help people with COPD feel better. These exercises improve their breathing, strength, and overall quality of life. But if you use OxyFlow Breathing Trainer during these exercises, you could get similar benefits even if you don't have COPD. It could make your breathing stronger, help you exercise better, and feel less short of breath. So, it's a good option for improving your lung health at home.

1. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4832119/ It is common knowledge that daily stress can harm our performance. That is why people perform practices like meditation and rhythmic breathing which may reduce this stress, helping them perform better. OxyFlow Breathing Trainer offers similar benefits, which you can not only use while meditation, but even on the go and experience the same benefits.

1. https://www.cs.unb.ca/tech-reports/documents/TR19-241.pdf According to this research, our breath reflects and influences our body's state. Something as simple as shallow breathing can cause imbalance, while deep breathing restores balance. OxyFlow Breathing Trainer is a device that encourages deep breathing, offering similar benefits. So, OxyFlow Breathing Trainer can help promote overall well-being by balancing breathing.

1. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1569904816303408 Training the muscles we use to exhale can improve sleep and breathing in people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). According to this study, after only five weeks of training, participants showed better breathing, less sleep apnea, and improved sleep quality. This suggests that exercises like OxyFlow Breathing Trainer, which strengthen breathing muscles, could offer similar benefits for sleep and breathing. 1. https://academic.oup.com/ptj/article/86/3/345/2805157 By doing intense breathing muscle exercises for 8 weeks, it distinctively improved lung and diaphragm strength in healthy people. After this time period, they could exercise more effectively. This suggests that using OxyFlow Breathing Trainer, which follows the same principles, could offer similar benefits.

1. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10664-022-10148-z This research shows that specific breathing exercises can boost the well-being and resilience for office workers. Taking time to relax and breathe can improve focus, productivity, and how people feel about their work. By using OxyFlow Breathing Trainer, a similar technique, will offer these benefits too because this is a tool you can use everywhere, even as you work.

1. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S001236921160189X After exercising, people found it easier to cough up phlegm because they were breathing more deeply and quickly. According to this study, walking on a treadmill was especially good at helping clear mucus compared to cycling. That is why by using OxyFlow Breathing Trainer, with its controlled deep breathing, it might offer similar benefits and help keep your airway clean.

1. 10)https://tis.wu.ac.th/index.php/tis/article/view/346 This study looked at how a breathing exercise with a special device can boost lung function in 20 young adults. They found that adding a deep breath-hold improved oxygen transfer and increased lung volume more than the basic exercise. Both methods increased lung capacity. This suggests that using OxyFlow Breathing Trainer, which is an improved breathing tool, could offer similar benefits and boost lung function.

Frequently Asked Questions

But what about mouth breathing?

While habitual mouth breathing is not recommended by professionals, the OxyFlow Breathing Trainer is designed for short, controlled use to strengthen your respiratory muscles. Using our breathing trainer helps improve lung capacity, reduce shortness of breath, and enhance overall breathing efficiency. It’s similar to how athletes use specific equipment for training purposes. By incorporating OxyFlow Breathing trainer into your routine, you can actually improve nasal breathing efficiency and overall respiratory health. Remember, the goal is to use it as a tool for respiratory muscle training (RMT), not for continuous mouth breathing.

Will it increase my lung volume?

Yes, the OxyFlow Breathing Trainer is designed to increase your lung capacity. It uses airflow resistance to perform Respiratory Muscle Training (RMT), which strengthens your respiratory muscles, including the diaphragm and intercostal muscles. By regularly using OxyFlow Breathing Trainer, you challenge these muscles to work harder, similar to how resistance training works for other muscle groups. This training leads to stronger, more efficient respiratory muscles, allowing you to take deeper, fuller breaths and ultimately increasing your lung capacity. Users typically notice improvements in stamina, reduced shortness of breath, and easier breathing within a few weeks of consistent use.

How does it clear blocked airways?

By providing resistance during both inhalation and exhalation, OxyFlow Breathing Trainer strengthens the respiratory muscles, allowing for more forceful and productive coughs. This enhanced cough effectiveness helps clear mucus and obstructions from the airways more efficiently and works similarly to Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) devices on exhalation against the resistance dial.

Additionally, during exhalation, OxyFlow creates a positive pressure within the lungs, similar to PEP devices. This positive pressure helps keep smaller airways open and generates vibrations that can further dislodge mucus from the airway walls. These combined effects lead to better airway clearance and overall improved respiratory health.

If you don’t have excess mucus, you might not cough out mucus from breath training, which is normal. Our bodies need healthy mucus to stay in the airways to protect and lubricate them. OxyFlow Breathing trainer may help only excess or problematic mucus is cleared, promoting overall respiratory health.

How long does it take to see results?

Results may vary from person to person, but many users report feeling the benefits within a few weeks of regular use. Consistency is key to achieving the best results.

When will my OxyFlow breathing trainer arrive?

Usual processing time is 12-24 hours. With our insured shipping option, you will receive your order within 7-10 business days.

How do I use the OxyFlow Breathing Trainer

Check out the video tutorial on how to use our breathing trainer here - Video tutorial.

Step 1: Prepare Your Trainer Before you begin, ensure that your air resistance trainer is clean. Insert the mouthpiece in your mouth with the engraved word "top" at the base of the mouthpiece facing up. Bite down the inner sides of the mouthpiece to hold it in place.

Step 2: Proper Breathing Technique Stand or sit comfortably in an upright position maintaining good posture, or use as a part of your workout routine. Adjust the resistance level to your desired level of breathing resistance (make it challenging, but not uncomfortable). Inhale deeply through the mouthpiece until you can't anymore, and then exhale through the mouthpiece until you're almost out of breath. Focus on filling your lungs completely with air. This action engages your inspiratory muscles.

Step 3: Controlled Exhalation Remove the unit from your mouth and breathe normally until you catch your breath. Then repeat the above exercise 10 times to complete one set. Do 2 to 4 sets per day, preferably before any meals.

WARNING: The breathing should be challenging, but not uncomfortable and should not produce adverse effects. If you feel any dizziness, headache, or breathlessness, try a lower resistance level.Always prioritize caution.
